There’s a new face of Johnson & Couzins in the top of the South, and he’s quickly becoming known as “the louvre guy”.
Max Kotlyar jumped at the chance to move to Nelson after lockdown to run the Johnson & Couzins brand for the top of the South. It’s the first time the Christchurch-based company has had a permanent presence in the region.
“I went up for a week to check it out and loved it. The beaches, the awesome scenery, there’s so much to do. It’s a cool place to be.”
Max covers the top of the South Island including Nelson, Tasman, Marlborough Sounds, Picton and Blenheim. It’s fast becoming one of the busiest regions for J&C with the products most in demand being their signature SkyLouvre, New Zealand’s first retractable louvre, along with Calido Zip Screens and retractable awnings.
“Nelson/Marlborough has one of the highest hours of sunshine in the country so customers see the value of our products, which offer the very best in sun and weather protection.”
Max is enjoying growing the 100% Kiwi owned and made brand.
“Every job is tailor-made so there’s always something new and different – my favourite jobs are the tricky spaces that give us a challenge! But as each job is engineered to match a customer’s specific needs there’s always a J&C solution to any shade or weather protection request.”
Max does everything from taking the initial phone call, site measure and quote to installation and maintenance.
He says the feedback from customers makes it all worthwhile.
“Home owners really appreciate the quality of the product. They tell me they can’t believe how well it blends in with their home and outdoor space, often looking like it’s always been there.”
Prior to moving to Nelson, Max was at Johnson & Couzins in Christchurch for about five years, working across the factory, engineering and installation teams.
He says despite missing friends and family in Christchurch, he won’t move back anytime soon as Nelson is a great place to be.
