We know our J&C outdoor solutions create excitement, but for Vanetia Bingham, owner of The Lake House, it’s more than that.

“We now have a completely different space that we can use 365 days a year. It’s amazing,” says Vanetia.

The Lake House Restaurant and Bar sits alongside Lake Hood, a popular lakeside community just south of Ashburton in Canterbury. It attracts a strong local following, while also bringing in people from around the wider region attracted to the area’s recreational activities.

The Lake House wanted to make the most of its stunning setting, including the sunsets (which Vanetia describes as ridiculously good), all year round.

“We had a deck with an existing canvas cover, but it wasn’t enough and didn’t give us the confidence to be able to use the space year round. We wanted a solution that gave us protection from the elements, warmth and was 100% waterproof. And Johnson & Couzins gave us just that – it’s great!”

The Lake House installed a Silencio SkyLouvre, Calido screens as well as a custom-designed and made PVC cover - all made by the Johnson & Couzins team. With the addition of heating and lighting the outdoor space, which seats up to 120 people, has been transformed.

“We’re really happy with the solution Johnson & Couzins has designed. It’s the perfect fit, with the custom-designed PVC letting in light, the Silencio SkyLouvre offering the flexibility to have just the right amount of sun or shade, and the Calido screens making the area 100% waterproof.

“We can now offer true lakeside dining any time of the year and are attracting events from weddings to conferences. It’s a fantastic venue and amazing addition to the region’s events facilities. On top of that, locals love it too!”
