The chance to live at the Mount while representing a company they are both passionate about was a chance that couldn’t be missed for Sam and Claire.
This couple are the new face of Johnson & Couzins in the Bay of Plenty region, having moved to Mount Maunganui from the company’s Christchurch base.
“We love it up here – growing the J&C business and brand here in the Bay of Plenty while enjoying all the region has to offer. What could be better?” says Sam Mackay.
Sam has been working for Johnson & Couzins in Christchurch since 2011 – with a two year break for his OE during which he met his Irish match in Claire Ivory. Sam started in the Christchurch factory using his skills as a metalworker before moving to join the installation team. When he enticed Claire back to New Zealand she joined the J&C team too.
Sam says when they were offered the opportunity to move to the Bay of Plenty to lead the J&C brand in the region, it was an opportunity they couldn’t pass up.
“I love the J&C product first and foremost as quite simply it produces incredible results for the customers. I love it once we’ve finished an installation and we get to see how happy the customers are with the outdoor spaces that have been created.”
And as a Christchurch lad, Sam loves the Kiwi ethos the company represents.
“We’re one of New Zealand’s oldest companies – more than 150 years in the making – and have a history filled with a can-do attitude and innovation that has lead to J&C being a market leader in its field. J&C offers a superior NZ-made product, designed and engineered for Kiwi homes. It’s a pleasure to be part of the growth of such an iconic brand,” says Sam.
While both love the Bay of Plenty lifestyle, Claire does admit to finding it a bit hot compared to her Irish homeland.
“Yes the heat is a bit full on, but I’m coping! And we’re managing to make the most of summer with lots of adventures and hikes in and around the region.”
